The second phase of the 'Operation Toofan' initiative, aimed at curbing the spread of drugs in the state, was inaugurated at the Aryanad Grama Panchayat level by Panchayat President Smt. Anjana G. Nair, under the leadership of the Aryanad Police Station Sub-Inspector. The project is implemented with the objective of building a strong community-led resistance against drugs focusing on panchayat ward levels. As part of the ceremony, the Toofan flag was hoisted at the grama panchayat office, and public representatives along with the local public participated in taking the Toofan anti-drug pledge. The grama panchayats have decided to enforce special surveillance around educational institutions and establish ward-level people's committees to take strict action against the drug menace. Arrangements have also been put in place as part of the project to report any information regarding drug use or sales to the authorities.
